Kyo finally says something that makes sense, but now I got no clue whose side he's even on. Still not over that dumb "100% love for Chii and 30% love for Hina" thing. Like what??? Ayame's out here wondering why Taiki and Hina can’t just go from friends to dating, and I’m wondering why they gotta. At least Haryu finally got over his "oh no, what if I lose to Taiki" thing by actually beating him. And now Taiki’s got a solid idea for what to do with Chii.

Honestly, Haryu’s been the best senpai and wingman this whole time. Taiki just said a few words, went for it, and then boom, big ol’ smile. That’s how you do it. Reject one, ask the other out. Easy. Meanwhile, Ayame is out here mad at Taiki for rejecting Hina like... girl, are you okay? She can’t even tell the difference between romance and basic friendship.

And just like that, it’s over. Honestly, this was a solid adaptation with some crazy good art, but the story? Ehh, it’s just kinda there. Not overrated, but also not rated right either. The sports stuff was cool but man, the romance was absolute meh. That whole love triangle mess that takes up the second half was straight-up trash, plus add in the fact that I just can’t bring myself to care about Taiki’s romance with either Chii or Hina, and you have a season that was just, yeah, it was there.

Being a manga reader though, season two will probably be my favorite, aside from the fact that a certain character that makes this series 10x worse showing up as early as probably the first episdoe of it... but for now, yeah, it was decent.

Will there be any season 2 announcement?
I think that'll announced once right after this episode officially airs on TV.
To be honest, This was totally a devastating arc for me.
As watching my fav character i.e. Hina is not at all an easy task.

Still reeling from the pain of last week's episode.. Hina nation, we will recover... But I really can't believe it's all over! This certainly lived up to the hype for me as one of the best sports animanga and romance titles in modern Jump history. One of the fastest 25 episode series ever. Every episode was amazing and I fell in love with this cast. Season 2 please!

Think this finale was the perfect place to leave off, it feels like turning a new page in the lives of all our characters. Seeing Hina so low and not even wanting to practice hurts so much, but at the same time I’m confident she’ll recover from this and be better than ever thanks to Ayame. She showed up and really stole the show in the last few episodes. Seemed kind of cocky at first, but she’s got a heart of gold and will go to bat for those she cares about. I’m sensing a little ship with she and Kyo 👀

Also just think Hina’s reacting very realistically, like when I had similar shit happen in HS I didn’t wanna leave bed or see anyone for days, the author really just does a great job of capturing what it’s like to be that age. She’s amazing and this best girl battle was one for the ages, no doubt she’ll find someone that’s right for her and be back to her smiling self soon.. we do need an AU fanfic or spin off where she wins tho please 😭

On the other side, Taiki is just as beat up as Hina and I like how they showed that. Like turning down and hurting someone that you know loves you and has supported you for so long isn’t easy at all and it’s not something you feel good about after. But you have to do what’s best for you, life’s too short not to. Now it’s time for him to put on the full court press with Chinatsu. We need that season 2 announcement so we can see him finally confess!

Never was big on romance but this one got me good.
9/10. If it still focused a bit more in the sports it would have been a 10/10.
Didn't like the festival part onwards as much.

18:55 they censored her middle finger 🤣

My 12th Fall 2024 anime finished! Man, this was a rough ending 😅 I am team Chinatsu, but man I really feel for Hina. I know she stood no chance from the start and her rejection was expected, but man it still hit hard. Akari Kitou did a fantastic job voicing her. The crying was so realistic. Second childhood friend zone character after Mikari from 2.5D Ririsa last season 🥲 she’s the new Nao Touyama 😅

Anyway, I had to watch this season finale raw since there are no subs available right now because I’m early, but I didn’t want to wait 😅 I understood mostly everything anyway. Poor Hina man, but I so hope for a season 2 to see Taiki and Chinatsu get closer 🙏🏻

This is the first time a character (Hina) getting rejected frustrated me. She seems much more fitting for Taiki with their history and personalities than Chi, who he just seems to admire/look up to.

@kennynakawaki actually the censored was originally from the manga resource, but still hilarious the studio pay attention to every detail from manga.

Just like that, one my fav animes that came out in 2024 ended. No season 2 announcement which is sad but im hoping for an announcement soon!

This episode didn't feel like the ''last episode'' in an anime, no crazy cliff hangers, no crazy revelations just cleaning up character arcs.

This series already feels nostalgic for me. 9/10 will be there for season 2

This was so fucking peak, goddamn. For the first time Taiki felt like a man. He had no other choice, otherwise it would end up making Hina feel even worse. This is a 9/10 for me, i really enjoyed this anime and i really hope they animate a second season. This was beautiful. I hope Chinatsu and Taiki finally get together 🗣️

Gimme a Season 2, Please. Hopefully, there will be an announcement next week after the final ep. airs on TV. I'm really hoping.

I love this show a lot. All the characters are adorable and the romance aspect is cute, sports isn't the main aspect if you're watching it for that. It's just there to keep you engaged with the characters and their storyline but I don't mind that at all. It adds another layer to the show which is never bad. Really enjoyed it all the way through. I love you, Hina. You're the cutest girl in the whole show. And, Chinatsu is very lovable as well.

I hope they announce the season next week or I will have no choice but to read ahead in the manga.

It was an excellent anime, and I hope they confirm a second season soon.

Even though I'm Team Chinatsu, I couldn't help but feel bad for Hina. She's going through a lot, and the fact that the last scene we get of her this season is her crying makes it even sadder. I've seen a lot of hate towards Taiki in some places, and to me it just doesn't make sense. This is one of the few anime where it makes all the sense in the world that the girl with the most charisma and closest ties to the main character at the beginning loses. Plus, what Taiki did and what he said to Ayame only strengthened her character even more.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how things develop between Taiki and Chinatsu, how Hina manages to overcome her heartbreak, and possibly how Ayame ends up paired with the absolute god of this anime, Kyou. I'm looking forward to another season of what has been one of the best romance anime of its season.

Surprised nobody posted the Will Smith pain meme yet. Well the series made it clear from the very beginning that Chinatsu and Taiki are the alpha couple, so Hina was on an emotional suicide mission from the get-go. That being said she, is so op a losing heroine, that she deserves an honorary appearance in Makeine. I don’t think Chinatsu is a bad character, just standard compared to how good Hina was written. I look forward to season 2 and will likely be reading ahead some in the manga. This was certainly my favorite anime for fall 2024.

A real nice end for this season, open to a new one that I truly hope it comes. I have to admit that not only this anime really gave an amazing color to the manga, but added an extra depth to all characters that made me love it even more.
I just hope that once a new season comes out, it shows many people about a character who has not been fully portrayed as it is.

Can't blame them for not being on talking terms after what happened but man, Hina and Taiki's constant bantering at the start of the season (or hell, even from just before the camp) is depressing to look back on. Hope "lil Miss Bunny Ears" bounces back from this somehow.

And man, Ayame and Kyo being teased as a thing just makes me want a Season 2 even more now.

I'm overblown by the sensibility of this anime. I know I've been here every week saying the same things, but goddamn, once again, the shows successfully delivers accurate reactions from teens discovering the dokidoki's and kanashii's of youth. It hurts bad getting rejected, hurts too losing a friend for an unreciprocated feeling, just as it's exciting to finally muster up the courage to invite the girl you like to hang out, realizing they maybe sorta could possibly feel the same way I do. of course I'm already clinging to a second season, and wanna know bacly how all of this unrolls from this point on, but quite honestly, if the manga had ended exactly at this point, it would have been a great ending:

Hina's heartbroken but Kyo is really a good friend and is going to help her recover.
Ayame realizes that a special romantic relationship is more than what she's been doing up to this point.
Haryu gets the better off his fear of becoming mediocre and plays Taiki one more time.
Our main couple goes on a date, and who knows if it went well or bad, or it they were happly ever after or got together and broke up after three months.

Would have been an AMAZING ending to an amazing story, quite honestly.

Oh, and I must say: Fuck waifu wars, bros. It is the romance slice of life analogue of powerscaling on shounen, is completely empty, takes the discussion nowhere and, once again, IT'S SO NOT THE POINT OF THE WHOLE THING. So whether you're happy for Chinatsu, sad for Hina (you should feel both, f you'd ask me), just take a step back and enjoy the beautiful and deep feelings of teens falling in love.

Ayame trying to comfort Hina, the rejection is just too much to bear, even sacrificing many pairs of tissues.

Taiki being indifferent to the situation at hand, which prompts a game with Haryu, that's at least a match between the junior and Senpai. But Kyo and Ayame doing a postmortem of the already inevitable scenario, and Kyo knows better that Taiki is one to chase his dreams, and care less about others, especially if he's in the receiving end.

Since he already rejected Hina, Taiki asserting his position...and then asking Chinatsu out on a date, even if he thought of one on the spot, at least it counts. And Ayame bringing Hina out for some fun at the arcades, only to coincidence with the former's ex who badmouths her since the breakup. it's the latter's words that almost pushed her to oblivion, and yet, saved Ayame instead. However, the 3 people being in the same gym is frustrating enough, even more so for Taiki chasing Chinatsu for his long-awaited date.

As it is, the anime is a real showcase of why the manga is popular to begin with, as a sports romance series.

If Season 2 comes...this love triangle will only get even worse...

This has been one heck of a ride over the last 6 months, but the last few episodes, as a big Hina fan myself, have been VERY hard to take in. Seeing her being incredibly upset over getting rejected by Taiki really breaks your heart, which I'm glad that it gave Ayame a chance to show her worth by being there to support Hina as best as she can.

She has made mistakes, obviously, but this episode did give a lot of character progression for Ayame and has made me like her a lot more than before. Kyo was spot on with his remark on Ayame about being the sort of person to say things how it is without hesitation and not caring about how others think. I won't deny, but they do have a nice dynamic between them. An unlikely couple in the future? Who knows, but it would be one that I would happily support. =)

As for Hina, I can;t blame her for struggling to move on from that rejection. Her observation about how the whole massive gym building feeling very suffocating since Taiki and Chinatsu are practicing in the same building is one brutal way to describe how hard it is for her to move on. The fact that she and Taiki aren't on talking terms right now is also a bit of a worry, so I can only hope that things between them can be patched up somewhat in the future.

Overall. I think I will settle for an 8/10. This series has been really fun, the badminton and basketball matches were always exciting and the production values have been mostly pretty consistent. While the romance, especially with Taiki, felt a bit too predictable as to where it was going, the show's way of portraying the struggles with romance and the flaws that the characters had in dealing with that subject was really well done.

Fingers crossed that a second season gets announced in the near future. It damn well deserves one, that's for sure!

Hearing Hina cry is soul-crushing. The VA did a great job. I'm glad Ayame is at least trying to help after her grand plan failed so spectacularly. Most people would've bailed as soon as they found out their silly little plan backfired. Hina is also a champ for not resenting Ayame. Tbh it would've been understandable if she did. But I'm glad Ayame is trying to make up to Hina in her own way. Tho it might not be enough. I want to hate her character but she's actually pretty good. I like that she's probably giving up on her wishy-washy romance from the past and will speak her mind more often. That middle finger tho lmao. It was weird how she used it at all but the censorship just made it funnier.

Taiki might not feel as awful as Hina but he's still in a rough spot. But it's surprising he's moving on to Chinatsu so fast. It would've been worse if he confessed to her in the next episode or something lol. But I'm glad he's actually staying loyal to the girl he always loved. It sucks that the episode ended before the date. Would've liked seeing it. But it's probably better this way. Showing the two having fun together this early probably would've just rubbed more salt in the wound. Maybe it'll be shown in season 2. Idk.

Man, Blue Box was amazing. I was expecting a typical seasonal romcom but it ended up surpassing my expectations. I didn't think the production value would be so high and it'd have 25 episodes back to back. The series gave me some Mitsuru Adachi anime vibes at first which was the whole reason I started watching it but by the end, it started to feel like its own thing which I think was a very good thing. The elephant in the room is that this is primarily a romance series instead of a sports series because it barely focuses on the latter. Sports anime fans will probably be disappointed by this but for me, it's perfect as I care more about the romance anyway. If this was a Mitsuru Adachi anime it probably would've taken 100 episodes to reach this part of the story. Tho I'd probably still watch it if that were the case just like I watched Touch.

Gotta thank Netflix for fucking up the release of this anime. It's almost impressive how they seem to find new ways to ruin more anime. I hope that Season 2 will be confirmed next week. I really wanna watch the story of Taiki, Chinatsu, Hina, and even Ayame continue.

So to begin with this was a good show in terms of quality, It was very pretty and had that higher budget but ultimately the story heavily fell short. I was going to say that the final episode brought back the charm this show had during the first half but nope it just completely cut off.

No more development with Taiki and Chinatsu or no real wrap up between Taiki and Hina It heavily left a lot to be desired and cut off at such a random point. Not only that the show massively started to drag the love triangle between the main three there's unironically a few much lower budget romance this season which in my opinion are just much better because it progresses the relationships more steadily in my opinion.

As someone who actually enjoyed badminton I was quite disappointed to see the sports focus be somewhat dropped later on but I mean at its core this is a romance so I cant ask for much.

Also im still hung up on that stage scene between Taiki and Hina, I know anime like do over exaggerate stuff but that scene was so genuinely dumb it still annoys me.

But overall this show was pretty meh for my tastes. I would have given it a 8/10 but it heavily dopped off

Final rating is a 6/10

Gotta thank Netflix for fucking up the release of this anime. It's almost impressive how they seem to find new ways to ruin more anime. I hope that Season 2 will be confirmed next week. I really wanna watch the story of Taiki, Chinatsu, Hina, and even Ayame continue.

The elephant in the room is that this is primarily a romance series instead of a sports series because it barely focuses on the latter.

And that's what I've been saying since the first 4 episodes when many of my buddies said that it was the best sports romance anime they've watched recently.
I was like, "well, I read the manga, and I wouldn't really call this a sports romance. It is sports flavored. Think of it as Namaikizakari or something similar. So be warned"

And you know what? At least 2 of them said this similar thing last night.

As someone who actually enjoyed badminton I was quite disappointed to see the sports focus be somewhat dropped later on but I mean at its core this is a romance so I cant ask for much.

I almost laugh reading that comment. (we play badminton together once a week)

Don't forget that the mangaka also really loves Hina

I felt bad for Hina in the manga, and I still feel bad for her now, in the anime. However, at least Taiki rejected her instead of having a love triangle between them and Chinatsu.

I hope this has a second season, especially after that ending, because there's a lot more to explore here.

Ofc Taiki ofc you chose the wierd one...
@animelovenow I swear did everybody already forget the match against Yusa? Chinatsu believed in Taiki the whole time and went to congratulate him right after, while Hina assumed he's gonna lose and ran away in shame. So much for "always has your back"
