    Thank you Katie
    I have skied for years. I have just come back from the indoor Snowcedntre in Hemel Hempstead, England. And am very excited!
    Thank for the excellent video, I have been struggling for some time to make more than a smidgen of progress despite trying. Even when using Carv, combined with ski instruction, progress had been elusive.
    Thanks to your video, I concluded that without me being aware, I had been “hip dumping”, moving to the inside of the turn too soon.
    But now some success! I concentrated on the skills in your video (I largely used the Edge Similarity Monitor in Carv), and at long last, my Ski IQ bumped itself up to 116 (from 101, 106 and 107).
    The progress came after reaching the Edge Rolls skills sequence and then it happened, I could hear the scores bumping up! Yeh! Wow!
    Lots of work for this keen 79 year old to do but VERY excited and VERY pleased. Thank you.

    I think what's most important to have your hip near the ground is a seating position required for extension retraction movements when you switch from right to left and backwards

      Lake run was fun but just about do-able on this trip- then surprise surprise it snowed 20cm just after we left.
      What an amazing place and we were lucky to work with Michael Rogan and Katie this year. Excited to go back 🫡

    I’m always suggesting career opportunities for my 14 year old son. Let’s see…Ski coaching at Ski Portillo and Yellowstone Club. Not a bad one Katie! I don’t own any narrow skis. Is there something special to focus on on 98’s +? I do own the Carv inserts.

      All the drills here are applicable on wider skis, you will just need to tip your ski more to get it on edge!

    I hope I can ski like that. May I ask what is the mobile app you were using?

    • @CarvSki
      @CarvSki  Год назад +1

      It’s the Carv digital ski coach - ultra thin motion and pressure sensors are in the ski boots, measuring technique- and sending data to a coaching app on the phone. Check it out at getcarv.com

    Hello, I’m a beginner to intermediate and learning to carve currently, how will Carv help me in my pursuit of a carved turn? I’m worried it is aimed at more of the intermediate/advanced/pro who can already perform a full carved turn
    I am practicing at my dry slope in Norwich UK about twice a week, being artificial the run isn’t long and I can only fit a few turns in, will Carv be able to provide enough feedback?
    Thanks

    • @CarvSki
      @CarvSki  Год назад +1

      Hi,
      Carv is great for many levels, including at helping people move from parallel to carving turns, so I think it would be very helpful for you.
      Carv has a number of training modes dedicated to progressing into carving such as helping you focus on keeping your skis tipping at the same rate, and delivering pressure to the outside ski, all of which are key skills for carving. It also analyses your turn 20 times a second, so even a few turns are enough to get feedback.
      If you’re skiing every week you will be able to take advantage of our 100 day no questions ask return policy as well - so you can try and see how it helps you.
      Let me know if you have any more questions. Mark

    Any tips for guys like me with really flat feet which makes it more difficult to roll from edge to edge?

    • @gairnmclennan5876
      @gairnmclennan5876 Год назад +1

      Get a good fit on your boot. by the way if you have the carv in your boot it does make the boot tighter. I went to a reknowned boot fitter at a my local ski village with my carv inserts. The fit needs to be firm on top of the foot, at the heal, and no pressure points (cause pain). Different boots are wider or narrower. some are wide at the heels some are wide at the ball of the foot-thats measured in millimeters and called the 'last'. The boot fitter will be able to get a snug fit. I had to go back once more after 10 days skiing or so to really get them how i wanted them. Good luck, it's worth persevering!

    The hard icy snow early in the morning is killing me. No matter how sharpened the ski edges are, I loose grip and balance. On a softer snow I ski like a pro (blue run of course).

    • @CarvSki
      @CarvSki  Год назад +1

      Try the one ski turns Katie shows in this video, they will help stop your ski from sliding

    • @gairnmclennan5876
      @gairnmclennan5876 Год назад +3

      I ski an icy mountain, starting at 8am. 40 ski days last season probably 3 of them were ice like steel!! no way to get a turn to grip... so it's not always possible to conquer! I use short skis, i use fresh tuned skis (97 side angle and 0.5 base.... aggressive for grip during carving). i avoid slicked off areas where most people turn - just turn before or after those areas instead. What else.... i put higher edge angles in to get grip- bend the upper and lower body at the hips and lower back. also the edges of the piste have softer snow most days - so short turns in that narrow area can be really rewarding. usually the ice/snow is easier by mid morning as the temperature rises....go where the sun is shining on the snow. Enjoy!

    Is this useful for skiing powder, too?

    • @CarvSki
      @CarvSki  Год назад

      Hi, Carv’s algorithms are optimised for strong balanced skiing on piste - but this year the device will also detect different terrain and take that into account. While the app won’t coach you for powder specifically (yet) Carv is going to coach you to ski with great fundamentals - balance edging and pressure. This will help build consistency for all terrain skiing, where small mistakes in your technique can unravel your turns.

    I must complain about the term “metrics”. Is this the corporation world and I need to worry about my “metrics” before I get laid off. Sorry about the whine but the minute “metric” was used, it was a totally turn off. 😮
